Topic:
It is difficult for parents to know how to help a child who is having problems in school. Parents may err on the side of demanding too much or too little (or their children and of the school). Sometimes the kind and amount of help that is necessary at one time in a child’s life is too little or too much at a later time. This session will help parents to find the balance between advocacy and excuses. Parents will learn questions and strategies to help them support their child’s achievement while encouraging independence and self-advocacy. The session will be appropriate for parents with learning problems, whether or not the child has been identified as having a learning disability. |
